How it works

1

Pick a team and a season

Any team, any year from 1960 to 2025. The page takes on that team's colors from that year.

2

Tap Start

Allow notifications when your phone asks. Games come every day at their real start time. You can change that if you like.

3

The game comes to you

First pitch, two or three moments from the game, and the final. Anything that lands during your quiet hours waits until morning.

4

Pause or stop any time

Every notification opens your season page, with pause, skip and stop. Nothing is sent after you stop.

A game day

Most game days bring three to five notifications.

  • The first one arrives when the game started.
  • The big moments come at about the point in the game when they happened.
  • The final arrives when the game ended, with the winning and losing pitchers.

This is a sample. Each real notification uses the scores and plays from that game.

Questions

Can I set up a season for someone else?

Yes. Use the gift page. You get a link to send them. When they open it on their own phone and allow notifications, the season starts. Nothing is sent before that.

Which seasons can I pick?

Every season from 1960 to 2025 for every team that played in it. Seasons from 1969 on use play by play records where they exist. Seasons from 1960 to 1968 use inning by inning scores, and start times are typical for that era.

What if the team did not make the playoffs?

The regular season is the whole season for that team. The page tells you before you sign up whether a team played in October.

How do I pause or stop?

Tap any notification. It opens your season page, with Pause, Resume, Skip today and Stop. Turning off notifications for this site in your phone or browser settings also stops them.

Do I need an app or a phone number?

No. Notifications come straight from your browser. On an iPhone or iPad, Apple requires the site to be added to your Home Screen first, and the sign-up page shows the few taps that takes.

Do you use team logos?

No. The pages use each team's colors from that year and the name of the ballpark. Seasonback is not affiliated with Major League Baseball or any team.

Where does the game data come from?

The scores, schedules and play by play come from Retrosheet. Team records and ballparks come from the Lahman Baseball Database. Both are free historical sources run by volunteers.
